I haven't written on this thing in awhile... sorry for neglecting my readers... all one or two of you. Quick update... my dad is doing well! thanks for your prayers. He starts chemo on Monday. He's excited to get it finally going... and the doc's say he's got a very very good chance of the cancer being completely gone after this... so that rocks! He'll go through 4 treatments... an R-CHOP treatment... the R stands for Rituxin... so the prize goes out to Jim's mom for nailing it on the head. the CHOP is a cocktail of goodness that i don't remember the C, H or O... but the P is predizone... i know how that one goes as i was on that at the early stages of crohn's... wahoo...riight... haha... but he'll rock it. So my life has been crazy lately with job searching and taking care of stuff around home. we had a nuts blizzard here on Valentine's day and it dropped a TON of snow. Here's a picture of the giant snow mound.
They had to come with a bucketloader just to get me out of my garage so I could to Houghton that weekend for Dan and Laura's wedding... which was amazing! so great to see everyone and see people i hadn't seen in years! Dan and Laura
I then headed back to Houghton and saw the new wing of the Library and skywalk between the Chamberlain Center and the Library... pretty sweek!! here's a pic of the new wing. new wing

I could go on about this... but its time to get to the most recent news... the continuing adventures of Switchfoot! March 3rd, 2007. Le National, Montreal, Quebec: each line is a different show
My first Switchfoot show in Canada!! I have now seen Switchfoot in two countries. I've figured out a tally of shows and this works out to be about my 18th time seeing them. My buddy Nate and I drove up on Saturday. It was snowy... it rocked... Mostly everone spoke French... and for those of you that know my history of French in school... this proved to be an interesting experience... hahaha... We got to Montreal and drove around looking for a place to park... and dang did Nate's GPS rock! haha... We walked around the "arts" district of Montreal(where the club was located) and it was an eye-opening experience... let's put it that way. two guys in the "arts" district without realizing at first where we were and the way it appeared... haha... shoot... Ask me more about it if you want... but i don't care to write about it on here... We waited in line for the show for an hour or so... met some great people in line. Tim came out to take a phone call and he gave me a recognizing wave and Andy(the photographer) and i exchanged greetings... Finally we're let in and since we were about 15 or 16 people back in line... we got right up to the stage when the doors opened. Copeland put on an amazing set... I really dug their sound... they've gotten much better live. They it was time for Switchfoot... They started off the set with "Awakening" and rocked the house.. even did an Arcade Fire cover of "Rebellion"... Some guy from the crowd came up on stage and played "On Fire"... since it was yelled out from the crowd, Jon said "If you want us to play it you're gonna have to come up and play it too" so the kid did... and it ROCKED!! man... he was into it and was just like a rockstar... looked like he was a veteran member of the band.... here he is with Drew.
they did a sweet version of "American Dream" in which the stood completely still for about 30 seconds... except for Tim who was looking around... haha... before they went into the ending of the tune. They ended the 16 song set with "Meant to Live"... the crowd was going nuts when they left the stage and stomping for an encore so hard that the floor was moving... it was awesome... Jon came back out and sang "Only Hope" and half way throught he fire alarm went off... it wasn't anything major so he said "well you're gonna have to sing louder then.." and Drew came out at the end of it with an axe to make sure everything was ok... to which the crowd roared! They ended the set with "Stars".
What a great trip to Montreal to see one of my favorite bands of all time... but the fun didn't stop there. March 6th, 2007. Higher Ground, Burlington, VT:
after a quick bite to eat at Quiznos i got in line... I've seen these guys at Higher Ground before. There were some kids in front of me at the show that had waited outside since 1pm in frigid below zero weather... it was insane! but hey... I would have done it... haha... the set started off with "Awakening" again and then during the set I got a shoutout for being at the Montreal show before they played "Only Hope"... it was alot of the same tunes during the main portion of the set with some different ones thrown in and different variations for fun. Jon came back for the encore with "24" and ended the set with "Stars"... it was great to hear him do "24" again... one of my favorites!! here's a few random shots from the show....
I ran into my ol' friend Colin... which is always awesome... seems like its concerts lately that we run into each other. An incredible last couple shows for sure! Next week is crazy for me. I take dad down for Chemo on Monday. The next three days I'm off on another concert roadtrip! Switchfoot/Copeland in... Clifton Park on the 13th, Buffalo the 14th and Pittsburgh the 15th! Then I'll be coming home that Friday and have Remicade for Crohn's that Saturday. So life is awesome and busy at the same time... but its great to get out b/c life has been very crazy and kinda hard lately... but God is good! well this post turned out to be really long... so i will end it here... but that's what happens when I don't post for awhile! So i'll go back to listening to my bootlegs of the past couple shows and get ready for the next week of shows! Hope all is well with everyone! until next time... |
